The National Diploma in Quantity Surveying is owned by the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) and will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary for the role of a consultant or contractor quantity surveyor.

Postgraduate option

As a pathway to gain further skills, students who have completed this national diploma, can enrol in 71353 Project Management as a postgraduate course to gain project management skills and knowledge to support this qualification.

Important information for first time enrolments

If this is the first time you have enrolled in this diploma, you will need to provide additional information as part of the online enrolment process. This information includes uploading a current Curriculum Vitae, so please ensure you have one prepared before you start the enrolment process. You also need to provide information about why you wish to study and what you aim to achieve, to support your application.

We will guide you through the information you need to provide during your online enrolment application. To enrol, simply select the course(s) you are interested in below, 'add' them to your enrolment and you will be taken to the online enrolment form.

Admission requirements

To be considered for enrolment in this qualification you must have at least one of the following:

35 or more credits towards NCEA Level 2 in four subjects including maths and English,
NZQA Unit Standards equivalent to the above,
New Zealand Sixth Form Certificate in at least 3 subjects preferably including maths and English,
National Certificate in Carpentry,
Qualifications equivalent to the above.

If you do not have any of the above, but have relevant skills and/or work experience, you may still be able to enrol in this qualification.

 

Qualification structure

To gain the National Diploma in Quantity Surveying you must complete the following units. In addition you must complete 20 credits from the Communication Skills units. We recommend you only enrol in two units at a time and that you complete the core units before or at the same time as the specialist units.
